Ironhack in Miami wants to help you achieve your goal of getting a job in tech or launching your own business. Here’s what the company is all about.

"Ironhack is a global tech boot camp. We teach UX/UI Design, Web Development, Data Analytics - tech skills that people want to learn these days. Our two founders met when they were at Wharton Business School. Spain was going through a bad economic crisis in 2013 and there was 60% unemployment for people under 30. The tech boot camp model had been coming up in the U.S. and they decided to take that model to Spain. In our first couple years we had amazing success," said Alia Poonawala, GM, Ironhack Miami.

Ironhack is not the only game in town. But, there are a number of factors that set it apart from the competition.

"I would say that our biggest differentiator is that we our a global school. We have nine cities all over the world and we're getting data from those cities. We talk to hiring partners, developers and students in those cities and we're gathering the best things for our curriculum and students. We also have an alumni community of 3,000 people who are multi-passionate tech enthusiasts who want to help each other. And we're a globally recognized brand name so it's always great for your resume," said Poonawala.

The company offers a series of boot camps. And you'd better be ready to work because the curriculum is intensive.

"It's really focused on what career you want to pursue. They're all centered around skills based training and the idea is to get a return on your investment after you do a boot camp. So they're nine weeks, super intense and about 400 hours. you come to the boot camp and decide to completely immerse yourself in that topic. We teach you that topics and you build a portfolio of projects that you can show to your hiring partners. So, at the very end, the boot camp culminates in a career fair where our students interview with our hiring partners. Eighty percent of our students get a job withing three months of graduating," said Poonawala.

And Ironhack is collaborating with Facebook on a partnership that's really dynamic and will help students.

"Facebook gave Ironhack Miami $250,000 for scholarships for underrepresented minorities in tech. We match that and, in the last two months, we have awarded almost $500,000 in scholarships.
