Each week on Inside South Florida we check in with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County to take a look at all the good work they're doing. This week the group talked to us about their newest partnership that's giving participants a new way to have fun.
Friction Labs reached out to the group to create a grant specifically for rock climbing. The fun takes place at Coral Cliffs Gym, and gives bigs and littles a chance to spend time together in a fun new way. Due to COVID-19, pairs haven't been able to do many activities together, but this venue offers a safe way for them to spend time together.
Friction Labs, a chalk company with ties to several climbing gyms, decided to bring together all their resources to be able to help locals, not just those who pay for a membership. The company does this quarterly with multiple gyms across the US.
Abby Dione, owner of Coral Cliffs Gym, says that rock climbing is a full body experience.
"Especially with these challenging times that we've had, I think it's one of these rare activities that really focuses the mind," she says.
