The Humane Society of Broward County is back again with Furry Friday. Today Cherie Watcher, VP of marketing, introduces us to Goofy.
Goofy's name describes him perfectly. He's a happy, fun-loving dog, who's about a year old. Watcher says he would do better in a home with older kids or just adults.
He's also one of 39 dogs that traveled all the way from Louisiana to find Florida to find their forever homes. The humane society has partnered with Greater Good Charities and Save a Heart Program to help treat heartworm-positive pets and get them adopted.
Heartworms are transferred to dogs through the bites of infected mosquitoes. It's recommended to get your dog tested every 6 months, and make sure they stay on a preventative medication.
If you're looking to adopt, you should fill out a pre-adoption application online here. After that, you can go browse through all the animals in person and see who you want to bring home.
The humane society is open every day at 11 a.m., but due to social distancing guidelines, there may be a line to get in on the weekends.
