Pompano Beach Arts spends two to four years curating exhibits before they open to the public. Dr. Juliana Forero spends much of her time working on this process to make sure the exhibits are worth the wait.
It all begins with looking at portfolios. Once there is a proposal for an exhibit, Dr. Forero makes sure that all three exhibition spaces flow together.
"Often time I like to find something that ties the exhibitions together," she says.
The Pompano Beach Cultural Center, Ali Cultural Arts Center, and Bailey Contemporary Arts Center hose about 25 exhibits each year. Dr. Forero works with guest curators as well to look at art from all mediums to put on display.
"It's oftentimes that I'm blown away," she says. "I love to receive proposals and portfolios by artists that are not on my radar."
If you'd like to visit the venues now, there are exhibits currently featured in each location. You can also visit them virtually at pompanobeacharts.org
