As cases of COVID-19 in Miami-Dade County increase, Mayor Carlos Gimenez reminds the county that they must wear masks and continue to social distance while outside.

A slight increase was expected due to opening the county and having more testing, he said, but the protests were unexpected and might have contributed "some-what" to the increase.

Miami-Dade Police are out to enforce rules regarding COVID-19 at businesses, parks and beaches.

The mayor said that business who do not abide by the safety measures will be shut down. Businesses or people who are not following the measures can be reported by calling 305-4-POLICE.

"If you aren't going to take self-responsibility, we certainly are going to call you out," he said.

Gimenez also noted that the county's Safer at Home order has never been lifted, and those who are vulnerable should stay home.
