Although Florida's positivty rate has decreased to about 9% percent from the double-digits, and only 4,866 positive cases on Monday, Governor Ron DeSantis spoke about the challenges the state still faces with COVID-19.

Increased testing has resulted in longer turn-around times, DeSantis said.

Starting Tuesday, the Marlins stadium and Hard Rock stadium testing sites will be for 15-minute antigen tests. This will be for those who are 65 and older and those who have symptoms. There will still be a lane for asymptomatic people but they will get the regular nose swab.

"When we get tests reported to the state, sometimes those tests were taken 10, 14 days before," he said. "Certainly the infection happened 10 to 14 days before."

All other drive-thru testing sites will have symptomatic lanes where they can self swab, which usually results in a 24-hour turnaround time.

All these sites will also have anti-body testing.

"It's all about lab prioritization, understanding that there is a lab capacity for a quick turn around, if we can focus on those people who really need the tests the quickest, I think we're going to be able to improve," DeSantis said.
