Police officials in Idaho spoke to the media and updated the public Friday after law enforcement in Pennsylvania made an arrest of a "person of interest" in the investigation of the killing of four University of Idaho students.
Police spoke to the press in Moscow, Idaho, about the status of their investigation as they try to figure out who killed the group of students, over a month ago, on Nov. 13.
The four students, who were friends and part of the university's Greek system, were founds stabbed to death in their beds, as Moscow Police Chief James Fry confirmed.
The killing rocked the small college town and farming community of about 25,000 residents.
As the Associated Press reported, the killings caused nearly half of the University of Idaho's student population, more than 11,000 students, to flee the small town and switch over to online classes.
Bryan Christopher Kohberger, 28, was arrested in Pennsylvania in connection to the killings.
According to court documents, Kohberger was arrested on Friday in Hazleton, Pa. The document indicated that Kohberger faces extradition following his arrest. He was arrested before any formal charges were made.
The Moscow Police Department said efforts would begin Friday morning to remove potential biohazards and other harmful substances that were used to collect evidence from the home where the students were killed in mid-November.
Still, the home remains an active crime scene. The four deaths are classified as homicides.
