Located in Fort Lauderdale Burgerhive is a South Florida vegan food truck which offers a fusion of American comfort food and island flavors.
“I’ve been a vegan for about 17 years and I’ve rarely tasted vegan food that’s flavorful. I am a big fan of burgers, I love milkshakes, as a vegan. I thought to myself, my family and I, what is the best thing we could do to create a restaurant that kind of follows our diet. That’s where Burgerhive comes from,” said McAshley Joseph, CEO & owner of Burgerhive.
The husband and wife duo opened the food truck back in March and then COVID-19 hit, but instead of closing its doors, they found a creative way to remain open.
“Obviously, we were practicing social distancing, make sure everyone wore their mask, and six-feet apart. We would go to luxury apartment complexes where customers, all they had to do was order the food, we would call them when it was ready, and they came and picked it up,” said Joseph.
Carla Joseph is a nurse practitioner, a mother of three, and also owns the food truck, which will now be accompanied by a storefront later this year.
“We are expanding to Davie and we are so excited. Our actual location is going to open in October. It’s going to be right on University Drive and Griffin Road. We are excited to be in the heart of Davie close to Nova University,” said Carla Joseph, co-owner of Burgerhive.
Even though they have been in Fort Lauderdale for a couple of weeks, Burgerhive already has their regulars.
“I like that they’re offering vegan options and it’s great vegan comfort food. I love their Buffalo Bomber sandwich, their Beyond Burger sandwich, it’s all excellent food,” said Joey Vaccarella, client at Burgerhive.
Burgerhive will be expanding their menu once their storefront in October. If you want to know more about their menu, head on over to burgerhive.com.
