The Children’s Trust, a youth social services organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County, continues to serve thousands of families.
The need for help increasing during the pandemic.
“We saw there was a need for early childcare, education, as well as trauma support, therapy, support for children with disabilities,” said Grettel Suarez, Associate Director of Research at The Children's Trust.
Investing their time and funding to providers, such as The Parent Club.
The Children’s Trust has partnered with local parenting experts and Miami-Dade County Public Schools to offer free, countywide workshops. Topics such as raising children and directing them in the right direction. Virtual workshops are available at any day and time, upon request.
“We make sure that parents have flexibility in how they receive parenting education,” said Grettel.
“What matters is, giving them the best message as we can in every presentation,” said Yanett Apau, parent facilitator at The Parent Club.
The workshops are available in English, Spanish and Creole.
“For parents and caregivers with children from 0-12, we offer positive parenting, raising confidence competent children and raising resilient children. For caregivers or parents with teenagers, we offer raising responsible teenagers, raising competent teenagers and getting teenagers connected,” said Yanett.
The goal of the Parent Club is to maximize reach to large groups of parents who could benefit from the parenting information that is based on the latest research.
“Parents can subscribe to our mailing list which then generates Parenting in our Community newsletter that goes out weekly with current events that relate to parenting so that they’re always in the know,” said Grettel.
“On behalf of The Children’s Trust Parent Club facilitators, we are more than glad to do this because we can see the impact on families,” said Yanett.
