As South Florida works to rebound, we’re helping you get back to work. CareerSource Broward is hosting virtual job fairs every two weeks. Companies are hiring and we want to make sure you know what jobs are available.
Over the past few weeks, you heard from South Floridians losing their jobs and struggling to make ends meet because of COVID-19.
"Unemployment has been hard," said Judy.
"You have to go home, unfortunately our business is slow," said Dezirray.
"I filed for unemployment, which is kind of a nightmare," said Ivelisse.
That’s why CareerSource Broward, a business center for job seekers and employers, launched biweekly virtual job fairs. Javon Lloyd, Senior Communications Manager at CareerSource Broward, says anyone can register online.
“You get your username and password set up then what you’re able to do is visit, what we call, virtual booths. Where employers are able to set up booths where they’ll have their vacant positions that they’re posting and job seekers are able to get more information and also able to apply directly to those jobs,” said Javon.
They’re expecting thousands of people to participate in the virtual job fairs, so it’s important to do what you can to stand out and act fast.
“If you’re looking for a job, if you’re looking for income, I know that times are tough right now. Just check out the job fair, see if there’s any positions that you’re interested in doing then reaching out directly to those employers,” said Javon.
Patricia Palacios-Colon is the Director of Human Resources at commercial cleaning company A&S Total Cleaning. They’ve been around for over 30 years, managing sanitation services in South Florida.
“Our company has grown 50% in the last two years and we offer our clients an experience that fits their needs in regards to construction cleaning, janitorial cleaning so all the commercial cleaning for hospitals, schools, churches, temples. On the construction side, we do the moving ready post-construction cleaning for corporate buildings, condominiums, home builders, we also offer porter services, you name it, ” said Patricia.
Patricia says right now, they’re hiring in different departments of the company.
“We have positions open in accounting, finance, administration, sales, project management, and janitorial positions open as well. We’re looking for candidates that are looking to grow and advance in their career,” said Patricia.
